Amazing article. Star-studded panel indeed. Loved the discussion of the hot hands phenomenon. And always obsessed about the crossover of chess and poker (though I’m very much a poker beginner).
I think flow state is very real during the creative process. Start a project, get into the right mindset, and then realize it's been 8 hours and your juices are still flowing.
I agree! I find it pretty amazing to find that flow in writing or chess. I can also find it in online poker. Live full ring poker flow is more elusive to me beyond a single hand, probably because of the more social, conversational nature of poker, which is a lot of fun, but not conducive to flow.
Do you ever find flow in the box?
I definitely want to do a whole post on flow in chess vs flow in poker.
Finding flow in the box isn't hard, as long as the players are competent. Easier in cash games, when there's a natural rhythm to the play. Tournaments are more difficult, with the increasing blind levels, tanking players, and more all-ins.

Thank you! I have a lot more pieces coming up on chess x poker crossover so stay tuned.
I wonder if there’s hot hands in film or sound editing
IT's everywhere!
